Set high standards rather than perfection

How to overcome perfectionism in your small business is not a blog I would have imagined writing a few years ago. We often come up with this image of an easy-going, laid-back character when we think of ourselves, but this truly never means that we can’t be perfectionists when we find our sweet spot.

So how did we end up writing about how to overcome perfectionism? Most small business owners are passionate about their creation and invest a lot of time and money in building their business. Unfortunately, this often means they naturally become protective of their ‘baby’. Nomadic Fun Casino Hire is no different. We have spent years learning how to take our passion and build on it by continuing to learn, develop and grow our skills.

We are now at a stage where we can look back at our feedback and be grateful. This can, however, create new problems.

Success often leads to demand which can often mean we need to grow. It’s a good problem to have, but it can lead to stress.

The stress often comes from delegating responsibility to others. This means trusting that they will do the job with the same or better level of attention than you will. You can’t be everywhere at once, and your growth will often be dependant on having the right people working with you. We have spent time learning from experts in this area and developed a list of steps to overcome perfectionism in your small business.

Steps to avoid perfectionism

Firstly, the most important thing is to select the people you work closely with carefully. If you’re trying to grow a small business, you need to trust their judgement and expertise. Secondly, clearly define the standard you expect rather than perfection. Set high standards rather than perfection. No one will meet the perfect standard.

Thirdly, recognise that to grow, you have to let go. It’s not beneficial to spread yourself too thinly. No one can run flat out for too long. If you want to keep your high standards, learn to keep your word and make integrity your keyword.

Finally, if you want to overcome perfectionism in your business, learn to have fun while growing. If you’re too intense and uptight about everything, it will affect your staff. They won’t be creative and will not feel comfortable coming up with new ideas.

In conclusion

Thank you for taking a few minutes to read our blog; if you’re thinking of fun ways to bond with your colleagues, family and loved ones, please look at the services we provide at https://www.nomadic-events.co.uk/#. We look forward to meeting you soon.
